Organization Mount Sinai Hospital Patient Care Volunteer Program

Position Description Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking students to serve as patient care volunteers. Volunteers will be placed on a range of inpatient hospital floors, including medicine, cardiac, transplant, ortho, neuro, etc., and in the out-patient cancer treatment center where the main role is to provide comfort and support to patients and their families through bedside conversation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the nursing staff by restocking isolation cabinets and assisting with clerical duties

  • Bringing a warm and welcoming presence to patients, their families, and caregivers

  • Acting as a liaison between patients and nursing staff

Position Requirements

  • Enjoys speaking with adults and senior citizens

  • Professional and positive attitude towards patients, family, and staff

  • Kind, caring, responsible, and enthusiastic team players interested in improving the patient experience

Time Commitment Part-time, 4 consecutive hours per week, with a six month commitment
