Position Description Columbia University Medical Center Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center is seeking a student to work as a recruitment coordinator. The recruitment coordinator will be involved in trials to treat diabetes and will be responsible for assistance with subject's identification and recruitment in primary care, specialty and other settings and for conduct of research trial protocols and education of the subject with diabetes.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinating, recruiting, and performing the responsibilities of clinical research protocols using principles of Good Clinical Practices. Ensuring the individual subject rights to full knowledge of informed consent to a research protocol. Participating in recruitment of research subjects via various avenues including facilitating coordination between primary care and Berrie Center clinicians and investigators, chart review, written correspondence, community outreach, lectures. Attending community health fairs and forums to promote clinical research activities as well as diabetes awareness and education. Maintaining documents and data generated by the study as required by regulatory guidelines. Assisting in financial management of grants. Evaluating process of study and maintains an efficient workflow. Performing data entry tasks and edits as dictated by the research protocols. Collaborating with members of Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center team in effort to improve the clinical and self-care outcomes of subjects. Providing group and individual education classes for patients and families as requested to enhance subject identification and recruitment into trials.
