Cohen Children's Medical Center Full-Time Paid Glide Year Pediatrics Clinical Research Assistant

Position Description: Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York's Division of General Pediatrics is seeking students to work as clinical research assistants on a wide variety of research projects. Students will work closely with faculty mentors on topics such as pediatric health outcomes, quality improvement to health services, and health policy research. Research assistants will have the opportunity to be co-investigators on any research abstracts submitted to national research meetings, and may also have the opportunity to be first or second author on papers or review articles submitted for publication to a peer-reviewed medical journal. Research assistants will also have the opportunity to attend clinical lectures about child development and developmental disorders, as well as occasionally shadow clinicians in pediatric sub-specialties. The primary focus of the internship is clinical research and writing, which will comprise 90 percent of the successful applicant's time.
Responsibilities include:
Performing chart reviews
Conducting in-depth interviews and administering in-person and online surveys
Running focus groups
Analyzing and coding transcripts and analyzing primary and secondary data
Providing administrative support
Working with local organizations to provide affordable and accessible community resources for patients and their families
Completing frequent site evaluations
Drafting and editing research study manuscripts
Writing for pediatric/health policy/health advocacy sites, articles, and creating presentations as needed
Managing all facets of clinical studies, including patient recruitment and enrollment, communication with study sponsors, and management of regulatory documents
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Strong academic record and writing skills a plus
Prior research experience a plus
Knowledge of statistics a plus
Interest in public health, vulnerable pediatric populations, and/or health policy a plus
Time Commitment: Full-time, with a minimum commitment of 9-12 months, and the opportunity to continue for an additional year.
Compensation: $15.50 per hour
