Organization Mount Sinai Hospital Patient Care Volunteer Program
Position Description Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking students to serve as patient care volunteers. Volunteers will be placed on a range of inpatient hospital floors, including medicine, cardiac, transplant, ortho, neuro, etc., and in the out-patient cancer treatment center where the main role is to provide comfort and support to patients and their families through bedside conversation.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting the nursing staff by restocking isolation cabinets and assisting with clerical duties
Bringing a warm and welcoming presence to patients, their families, and caregivers
Acting as a liaison between patients and nursing staff
Position Requirements
Enjoys speaking with adults and senior citizens
Professional and positive attitude towards patients, family, and staff
Kind, caring, responsible, and enthusiastic team players interested in improving the patient experience
Time Commitment Part-time, 4 consecutive hours per week, with a six month commitment
