Position Description:
Dr. John Crary is looking for a student to work as a research assistant. The research assistant would be working on human molecular, cellular and genetic studies in the laboratory related to neurodegeneration as well as assisting in the Neuropathology Brain Bank at Mount Sinai, helping him/her gain exposure to challenges associated with treating, diagnosing, and studying brain diseases
Volunteer responsibilities include:
Assisting with laboratory administration
Assisting physicians and postdoctoral researchers on projects
Conducting biochemical and molecular assays (e.g., PCR, DNA/RNA isolation, Western blotting, ELISA, etc.)
Attending and organizing lectures
Position requirements:
Strong academic performance
Exposure to a brain-related discipline (i.e. undergraduate major) such as neuroscience, psychology etc.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Capacity for independent work
Experience in clinical research
Experience with basic research
Intent to matriculate into an M.D. or Ph.D. program a plus
Time commitment: Full-time, with a minimum commitment of 1-2 years
Compensation: Commensurate with level of training
