Position Description CUIMC and New York State Psychiatric Institute are seeking a student to work as a research technician.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting EKGs within the three inpatient units of the hospital and the outpatient resident clinic
Processing samples from the inpatient and outpatient clinics to be sent to the off-site clinical laboratory
Organizing lab results
Carrying a pager to repons to urgent EKG requests and critical/stat lab results that must be brought to the attention of the treating physician
Performing some administrative lab duties (e.g. keeping lab room stocked, maintaining cleanliness of centrifuges and EKG machines, and of the biological specimens' room)
Position Requirements
Plan on pursuing a career in healthcare
Bachelors Degree
Interest in psychiatry and mental health
Certified in phlebotomy or willing to learn
Able to work with minimal supervision
Patient and compassionate
Proficiency in Spanish a plus
Time Commitment Full-time
