Position Description CUIMC and New York State Psychiatric Institute are seeking a student to work as a research technician.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting EKGs within the three inpatient units of the hospital and the outpatient resident clinic

• Processing samples from the inpatient and outpatient clinics to be sent to the off-site clinical laboratory

• Organizing lab results

• Carrying a pager to repons to urgent EKG requests and critical/stat lab results that must be brought to the attention of the treating physician

• Performing some administrative lab duties (e.g. keeping lab room stocked, maintaining cleanliness of centrifuges and EKG machines, and of the biological specimens' room)

Position Requirements

• Plan on pursuing a career in healthcare

• Bachelors Degree

• Interest in psychiatry and mental health

• Certified in phlebotomy or willing to learn

• Able to work with minimal supervision

• Patient and compassionate

• Proficiency in Spanish a plus
